Product Description

An oil seal is a common term for a sealing component. Simply put, it seals lubricating oil. It is a mechanical element used to isolate parts that require lubrication from power-transmitting components, preventing the leakage of lubricating oil. Seals used for static sealing and dynamic sealing (typically reciprocating motion) are called oil seals.Any part within a moving body box that contains liquid lubricant and is connected to the outside requires an oil seal. Some are made of rubber, some of metal, and most are steel-reinforced rubber, such as the rear crankshaft oil seal, front and rear transmission oil seals, left and right half-shaft oil seals, front main reducer oil seal, and air compressor crankshaft oil seal.

Oil seals are generally divided into single-piece and assembled types. Assembled types allow the frame and lip material to be freely combined, typically used for special oil seals. Based on the sealing function, characteristics, structural types, operating conditions, and sealing mechanism of oil seals, they can be classified into various forms and different names. However, it is customary to refer to rotating shaft lip-type seals as oil seals, while static seals and dynamic seals (usually reciprocating motion) are called sealing elements.

Common materials used for oil seals include nitrile rubber, fluororubber, silicone rubber, acrylic rubber, polyurethane, and polytetrafluoroethylene.

German DIN standards generally come in various structural forms such as A, AS, B, BS, C, CS, etc. Among them, type A is for standard outer encapsulation with a single lip, type B is for outer skeleton with a single lip, and type C is for outer skeleton with double skeleton (box-type) and a single lip. The 'S' in AS, BS, and CS typically stands for dust-proof lip, indicating that the corresponding structure has a double lip (with a dust-proof lip).
